A T-bone crash happens when one vehicle hits the side of another, often at an intersection when someone runs a red light or misses a stop sign. Whether it happened in McAllen, Edinburg, Pharr or Mission, a side-impact collision can jolt your body in a direction it wasn't braced for.

Why Side-Impact Crashes Are Hard on the Body

In a side impact, your head and torso are thrown sideways toward the door or window. That sudden side-to-side motion can strain the neck, shoulders, ribs and lower back. Because adrenaline runs high after a crash, you may feel fine at first and only notice pain hours or days later.

Symptoms to Watch For After a T-Bone Crash

Pay attention to how your body feels in the days after the collision:

  • Neck and shoulder pain: stiffness or soreness on one side, often the side that took the hit.

  • Headaches: pain that starts or gets worse in the days after the crash.

  • Lower back or hip pain: aching when you sit, stand, or get in and out of the car.

  • Numbness or tingling: in the arms, hands or legs, which should be checked promptly.
